Power demand dips, may end load shedding

Mumbai: The peak daily power demand in Maharashtra dropped by nearly 1,500MW in a day—from around 26,500MW to 25,000MW. If this decline continues, MSEDCL, the state power utility, could withdraw the load shedding being undertaken in parts of the state from Tuesday, a senior official said. MSEDCL has been carrying out load shedding of around 1,300-1,400MW in areas where power distribution losses are high and bill payment collections are low, reports Somit Sen.
